Amazon’s New Alexa AI Will Compare Products, Find Deals and Shop for You (MetaAi)

New Delhi: Amazon has introduced its AI assistant Alexa in a new style to make online shopping easier. The company has launched a new feature called “Alexa for Shopping”, which will help users find the right products, compare and track deals just by speaking or asking questions. This feature is replacing Amazon's old AI shopping service Rufus and is now being made available on the website, mobile app and Echo devices.

What will the new Alexa for Shopping be able to do?

Now users will be able to ask questions directly into Amazon's search bar, like “Which is the best laptop for me?” or “What is the best skincare product?” Alexa AI will provide comparison, review and price information of products based on these questions. It will also give suggestions based on the user's previous purchases and preferences.

How will deals and price tracking happen?

Alexa for Shopping will also be able to set price alerts for users. If the price of a product falls to a certain limit, the AI will automatically give a notification. Apart from this, it will also provide the facility to auto-reorder regularly purchased items.

Will AI be able to purchase from other websites also?

According to reports, Amazon's new AI can also help in searching and purchasing goods from other online platforms through the “Buy for Me” feature. That means Alexa will not be limited to Amazon only, but will also be able to find options on outside websites as per the user's need.

Why was Rufus removed?

Amazon acknowledged that the Rufus AI shopping assistant had received a good response, but the company now wants to provide a more advanced and personalized experience. For this reason, a new “Alexa for Shopping” platform has been created by combining Alexa and Rufus.

Are there concerns about users' privacy?

The new AI service makes suggestions by remembering users' purchases, search history and conversations. In such a situation, questions are also being raised regarding data privacy. However, Amazon says that users will be able to control their preferences and data settings.

In which countries did the service start?

Currently, Alexa for Shopping is being rolled out in America. The company can launch it in other countries also in the coming time. Amazon says this is a big step towards completely changing the AI shopping experience.
