New Delhi: Senior officers of the Indian Armed Forces have described 'Operation Sindoor' as a pivotal event in India's history. One year after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam last year—which claimed the lives of 26 innocent people—high-ranking officials from the Army, Air Force, and Navy held detailed discussions regarding the success of this operation and the lessons learned from it.

Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Air Marshal Avdhesh Bharti, and Vice Admiral AN Pramod jointly stated that this operation stands as a symbol of India's unwavering resolve against terrorists and their support infrastructure. India shot down 13 Pakistani aircraft, destroyed 11 bases, and eliminated over 100 Pakistani soldiers.

Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, who served as the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) at the time, began by paying tribute to the families of the 26 martyrs who lost their lives in Pahalgam. He remarked that this operation proved to be a momentous occasion in India's history. The government provided the armed forces with clear directives and operational autonomy, enabling the entire operation to be executed with the utmost professionalism. Pakistan's attempts to inflict damage upon Indian military installations were completely thwarted.

Why is Operation Sindoor a Gold Standard Both Militarily and Strategically?

Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai characterized Operation Sindoor as a "Gold Standard" from both a military and strategic perspective. He noted that over 65 percent of the defense equipment utilized during the operation was indigenously manufactured, thereby demonstrating the strength of a self-reliant India (*Atmanirbhar Bharat*). Pakistan was compelled to come forward for dialogue and appealed for a cessation of the operation. General Ghai unequivocally stated that India would always defend its sovereignty with firmness, professionalism, and the highest standards of operational excellence. He emphasized that Operation Sindoor marks not an end, but rather a new beginning.

What About Role of the Air Force and the Policy of 'Live and Let Live'?

The Vice Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Avdhesh Bharti, informed the media that Operation Sindoor has currently been put on hold. He articulated that the Indian military adheres to a simple philosophy: "Live and Let Live." However, he added, should anyone make the grave error of mistaking this commitment to peace for weakness, India will respond with decisive action. He stated that the forces were granted complete operational freedom.

"The very moment the first weapon struck its target within Pakistan, the confidence of Indian soldiers surged, and the families of martyrs received a measure of justice. Our struggle was directed against the terrorists and their support infrastructure. When Pakistan attempted to launch an attack, we responded immediately. This operation once again demonstrated the primacy of air power. We had anticipated every move of the enemy well in advance," he said.

What is role of Self-Reliance and Mission Sudarshan Chakra?

Air Marshal Bharti asserted that self-reliance is the way forward. The Indian Air Force is advancing rapidly in this direction and is a key partner in 'Mission Sudarshan Chakra.' He emphasized that the Air Force's role significantly bolstered the entire operation.

What is the Indian Navy's Role in India's Display of Maritime Power?

Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, Director General of Naval Operations (DGNO), stated that during 'Operation Sindoor,' the Indian Navy deployed a Battle Carrier Group, submarines, and other assets. The Navy also played an active role in the strikes. Pakistani trade routes were brought under control, thereby mounting pressure on Pakistan.

This operation demonstrated India's maritime capabilities and readiness to the entire world. The Indian Defence Forces and the Navy remain forward-deployed, fully prepared to confront any challenge that may arise.

What is India's New Defence Policy?

'Operation Sindoor' demonstrated that the Indian Armed Forces now operate under a policy of 'zero tolerance' towards terrorism. Enhanced coordination among the three services, the utilization of indigenous weaponry, complete operational autonomy, and decisive action were the defining characteristics of this operation. Senior officials unanimously affirmed that this is merely the beginning. India will defend its sovereignty at any cost and stands ready to counter any future challenges. 'Operation Sindoor' will be remembered as a golden chapter in the annals of Indian military history.
