New Delhi: On Saturday, a judge committed suicide in the Green Park area of South Delhi. 30-year-old Aman Kumar Sharma was serving as the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority at the Karkardooma Courts. He was found dead at his residence. According to preliminary information, he took his own life by hanging himself. The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality.
The Safdarjung Enclave Police Station received a PCR call under DD Entry No. 34. Upon receiving the information, a police team immediately rushed to U-4A, First Floor, located in Green Park Main. During the investigation, it was discovered that Aman Kumar Sharma was found dead inside the bathroom of his home. The police team, having arrived at the scene, took custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
The police were informed about the incident by the deceased's brother-in-law, Shivam, who resides in Defence Colony. In their preliminary investigation, the police have found no indications of any conspiracy or external interference. However, officials state that every aspect of the case is being investigated with utmost seriousness. The motive behind the suicide remains unclear at this time. To ascertain the cause, the police are questioning family members, friends, and close colleagues.
Aman Kumar Sharma assumed his duties in the Delhi Judicial Service on June 19, 2021. He had completed his legal studies in 2018 from Symbiosis Law School in Pune. During his tenure, he presided over numerous criminal and civil cases and discharged judicial responsibilities across various courts.
Since October 2025, he had been posted as the full-time Secretary of the North-East District Legal Services Authority at the Karkardooma Courts. His sudden demise has left not only his family but also members of the judicial fraternity in deep shock.
At present, the actual reasons behind the suicide will likely be revealed only after the post-mortem report is received and further investigations are concluded.
