Chennai: Just imagine the flight has landed, people are about to reach home in just a few minutes, and then suddenly there is a sound like a bang. Before anyone could understand anything, the emergency door had opened. This is what happened at Chennai Airport on Sunday, when the Air Arabia flight from Sharjah was moving from the runway towards the terminal.
The passengers were tired, waiting for the bus to disembark. The plane was slowly sliding towards the terminal. Then there was movement from behind and in no time the emergency exit door opened. Eyewitnesses say that in that one moment the atmosphere of the entire plane changed—panic, screaming, and chaos. Neither the passengers nor the crew could understand.
The pilot did not waste even a second. Stopped the plane immediately and informed the ground staff. Within a few minutes the security personnel were on the spot. And the biggest relief? Not a single passenger or crew member suffered even a scratch. But the fear that sat in the hearts of the people was not going to go away easily.
A passenger aged about 34 years. He said, "My health deteriorated during the flight itself, and I felt nervous and nauseous." In his restlessness, he did something that perhaps even he himself had not thought properly about. The police have taken him into custody and the investigation is ongoing. The real reason is yet to be revealed.
The biggest question is how did he reach the emergency exit? And how did that door open at the hands of a common traveler? The plane has been stopped for investigation. There was an atmosphere of chaos at the airport for some time, but gradually the situation returned to normal.
Aviation experts say that opening an emergency door during taxiing is no small matter. Not only can lives be lost, but the operation of the entire airport can also be badly affected. This time it was God's mercy that nothing major happened.
