Kolkata: Despite BJP getting a clear lead in the trends of West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has refused to accept defeat. Appealing to the party workers to “wait and watch”, he said that the counting of votes has not been completed yet and the final results are yet to come.
In her message, Mamata Banerjee has appealed to the workers to maintain restraint. He said early trends are not indicative of final results and more than 14 rounds are still to be counted. He asked supporters to adopt a “wait and watch” strategy and expressed confidence that the picture could change.
Amidst the counting of votes, Mamata Banerjee has also made serious allegations regarding the election process. He said that efforts are being made to influence the counting at some places and also raised questions on the Election Commission. He also expressed concern over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, which allegedly claimed to have removed the names of many legitimate voters.
The TMC chief gave clear instructions to his candidates and counting agents not to leave the counting center under any circumstances. He said that it is important to keep an eye on the counting of each round and any laxity can be harmful.
In the latest trends, BJP is continuously leading and has crossed the majority mark. According to reports, the party is leading on more than 160 seats, while TMC is lagging far behind. This is being seen as a possible major change in the politics of the state.
This time the voting percentage in West Bengal was recorded at more than 92 percent, which is considered to be the highest in the history of the state. A large number of voters took part in this election held in two phases, which made the contest more interesting.
Mamata Banerjee says that as the counting progresses, fluctuations in the results are possible. He asked his supporters to be patient and expressed confidence that the real picture will become clear only after the final results are declared. At present, the eyes of the entire country are fixed on the final results of Bengal.
