Kolkata: The stir regarding government formation has intensified in West Bengal. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reached Kolkata before the important meeting of the BJP Legislature Party. The party can take a final decision on the name of the new Chief Minister today
After BJP's historic victory, the name of Suvendu Adhikari is being discussed the most. He has made a place among the biggest faces of the party by defeating Mamata Banerjee from Bhawanipur seat in the elections.
Suspense continues regarding the next chief minister of West Bengal. Meanwhile, BJP MP Saumitra Khan gave a big statement and said that the next chief minister of the state will be a "people's leader." However, he did not clarify which face the party was going to bet on.
Saumitra Khan said, "Only a people's leader will become the chief minister of West Bengal and he will fulfill the dream of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. The cabinet has been dissolved as per constitutional rules. After a long struggle, this position has finally been achieved."
According to sources, the legislative party meeting will start at 4 pm at Vishwa Bangla Convention Center in Newtown, Kolkata. All the newly elected MLAs will be present in the meeting.
It is said that the leader of the legislative party will be chosen and the same leader will become the next chief minister of the state. The party is considering this decision very important because BJP is going to form the government for the first time in Bengal. In such a situation, there is no hurry regarding leadership.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new government will be held on Saturday, May 9 at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. BJP is seeing this program to be held at 11 am as a big show of strength.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and chief ministers and union ministers of many BJP ruled states can attend the program. The special thing is that the same day is the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, hence this event is being considered important from both cultural and political points of view.
