Bongaon: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and said that the BJP is set to form the government in West Bengal, while addressing a Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Bangaon in North 24 Parganas district.
While addressing the rally in Bangaon, PM Narendra Modi claimed that the TMC has already suffered a major setback in the first phase of voting and also speaking partly in Bengali, he said the momentum is now clearly shifting in favour of the BJP.
"TMC has left the Maa crying, the Maati has been handed over to syndicate and infiltrators, and Manush has been forced into exile," PM Modi said.
"The arrogance of TMC was shattered. And now, in the second phase, a landmark victory of the BJP is going to be assured," he added.
PM Modi also questioned the TMC’s founding slogan of "Maa, Maati, Maanus", saying the party no longer uses it because its actions contradict those ideals.
"This election in Bengal is in its final phase, but you must have noticed one thing. 15 years ago, the TMC came to power by talking about 'Maa, Maati, Maanus' (mother, motherland and people), now they can't even utter those words... I'll tell you the reason behind this... If these TMC people utter those words, their sins will be exposed. The cruelty of TMC made 'Maa' (mother) cry, handed over 'Maati' (motherland) to syndicate and infiltrators, and forced the 'Maanus' (people) of Bengal to flee," PM Modi said.
Reflecting on the potential of West Bengal, the PM Modi said that the BJP will free West Bengal from the TMC's "jungle raj."
