New Delhi: Now the need to carry an Aadhar card with you seems to be gradually ending. Google has launched a new feature in partnership with UIDAI, through which users can save their Aadhaar card details directly in the Google Wallet app. This digital ID will be stored in the phone in a completely secure manner and can be easily used when needed.
Through this feature, Aadhaar is saved as a “verifiable credential”. This means that the user can share his information only as per the requirement and not the complete details. This also maintains privacy and makes identity verification easier.
Once Aadhaar is saved in Google Wallet, the user can use it for purposes like identification, age verification or filling out online forms. This facility can work both offline and online.
Aadhaar integration has been started with some selected partners, where users will be able to easily verify their identity. Many platforms have been added under this facility.
According to Google, this data is stored in encrypted form on the phone and a password or biometric lock is required to access it. Also, the “selective disclosure” feature gives the user control over what information to share.
With this step the use of digital identity will become easier. Now users will not need to carry a physical copy of Aadhaar everywhere and verification in many services will be faster and more secure than before.
