An Air Europa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner encountered severe turbulence, forcing an emergency landing in Brazil and injuring 30 passengers on Monday. The turbulence was so intense that some passengers were thrown from their seats, including one man who ended up stuck in an overhead compartment. The incident occurred during Flight UX045 from Madrid, Spain, to Montevideo, Uruguay. The plane was diverted to Natal airport in northeastern Brazil after experiencing turbulence, as reported by The New York Post. WTF moment… One of the passengers on board the Air Europa 787 flight that hit turbulence over the Atlantic had to be rescued from the overhead luggage compartment. 😬🧐 pic.twitter.com/jKbbcD4ecX — Be Amazed! (@IndianSwede) July 2, 2024 Videos shared by passengers showed the aftermath, including a man’s feet protruding from the overhead bin, ceiling panels torn off, a destroyed seat, and dangling oxygen masks. Amidst the chaos, a baby was heard crying while passengers worked together to free the man from the overhead bin.  Air Europa said that the plane landed without further issues and that injured passengers were receiving medical treatment.
