Amritsar: Two blasts in Punjab on Tuesday night have increased the concern of security agencies. After these blasts in Amritsar and Jalandhar, intelligence agencies have expressed doubt on the role of Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI. In the initial investigation, it is believed that an attempt was made to spread fear and instability in Punjab before the first anniversary of ‘Operation Sindoor’. At present, police, NIA and central agencies are engaged in thorough investigation of the case.

In which areas did the blasts occur?

According to the information, the first blast took place in Khalsa Cantt area of Amritsar, while the second was recorded in Jalandhar. Low intensity explosions occurred at both places, causing panic in the area. However, it is a matter of relief that no casualties have been reported in these incidents.

Why do investigating agencies doubt ISI?

Punjab Police and intelligence agencies believe that the purpose of these blasts was to create instability in the state. According to sources, the timing of the incidents is extremely sensitive as May 7 is the first anniversary of 'Operation Sindoor'. In this operation, Indian security forces took action against terrorist structures across the border. The agencies suspect that the Pakistan-backed network wanted to create an atmosphere of pressure and fear through this.

What did Punjab Police say?

DGP Gaurav Yadav has termed the claims being made by the Khalistani organization as false. He said that some people are trying to spoil the atmosphere and spread fear among people through social media. According to the DGP, the police have found important clues in the investigation and action can be seen in this case soon.

While talking to the media, the DGP clearly said that the claim of someone's death made by Khalistan Liberation Army is false. No death has been confirmed so far. He said that some forces are deliberately trying to spoil the atmosphere of Punjab.

Is there any clue from CCTV footage?

Some CCTV footage has also emerged during the investigation. In these, a suspicious person is seen running fast after the blast. Investigating agencies are trying to identify him based on the footage. Forensic teams have also collected samples from the crime scenes.

Is there a possibility of using local modules?

Intelligence sources say that ISI has been trying to activate small modules in Punjab for some time. The agencies fear that the local youth could be used to radicalise their thinking. Low intensity blasts are being considered a part of this strategy.

Did the angle of Khalistani organizations also come to the fore?

Some investigative agencies are also working on the possibility that a pro-Khalistan network may have played a role in these blasts. However, the name of any organization has not been officially revealed yet. Police say that every angle is being investigated.

Has security been increased?

After the incidents, security arrangements have been further tightened in Punjab. Additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas. Surveillance has been increased in railway stations, bus stands and areas related to the army. Security agencies are on alert mode and search operations may be further intensified in the coming days.
