Friend Sets Man on Fire in Delhi After He Refuses to Throw Party

New Delhi: A shocking incident has come to light from Delhi and has shaken the entire area, where a minor disagreement over hosting a party between friends turned into a crime. A man allegedly set his friend on fire after he refused to host a party for buying a mew flat, according to police. The victim suffered severe burns and was immediately hospitalized. Police have taken the matter seriously, registering a case of attempted murder and have launched a search for the accused.

When did the incident happen?

The incident, which occurred on Thursday in Vijay Vihar Phase 2 of Delhi, spread panic among locals. The 40-year-old man, who is identified as Rakesh and supports his family by driving a tempo, became the victim of his friend Raja, also known as Manu. The victim had just moved into the apartment with his family after purchasing it, but his friend's repeated demands for a party led to the incident.

What was the reason of the incident?

The victim had purchased a flat in Vijay Vihar Phase 2 about a month ago and had been living there with his wife, Soni, and four children for some time.

According to victim, some time ago, he had already thrown a party, but the accused was demanding another one. Rakesh had promised to throw a party when he received the money.

What was the whole case?

On Thursday, Rakesh was sitting at his friend Suraj's car wash shop below his apartment. Raja arrived and insisted on a party.

In a fit of rage, Raja took a hammer from Suraj's shop and smashed the window of Rakesh's tempo. He continued to verbally abuse the victim. When the victim, along with others tried to stop him, the accused became even more enraged.

Then the accused got more angry and allegedly poured petrol on the victim and set him ablaze. 

Where is the victim?

The victim suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be critical.
