Lucknow: The 50th match of the 2026 Indian Premier League was played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The Lucknow Super Giants won this match by 9 runs via the DLS method. Due to rain, the match was reduced to 19 overs per side. RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Batting first, Lucknow posted a total of 209 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted 19 overs. Under the DLS method, RCB was set a revised target of 213 runs. Bengaluru could only manage to score 203 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 19 overs and consequently lost the match. This marks Bengaluru's second consecutive defeat, while Lucknow has secured a victory after suffering six consecutive losses. This is their third win of the season. With 6 points, they remain at the bottom of the points table. RCB sits in third place with 13 points.
For Bengaluru, captain Rajat Patidar was the top scorer, making 61 runs. His 31-ball innings included 3 fours and 6 sixes. Tim David played a blistering cameo, scoring 40 runs off just 17 balls. Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed after scoring 34 runs. Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten on 28 runs, while Romario Shepherd finished not out on 23. For the Lucknow Super Giants, fast bowler Prince Yadav was the most successful bowler, claiming 3 wickets. Shahbaz Ahmed took 2 wickets, while Mohammed Shami claimed 1 wicket.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, LSG got off to a strong start. The opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Arshin Kulkarni added 95 runs for the first wicket off 56 balls. While Arshin held one end steady, Marsh unleashed an aggressive batting display from the other end, completing his half-century in just 20 balls. The match had to be halted in the 9th over due to the onset of heavy rain. When play resumed, Arshin was dismissed after scoring 17 runs off 24 balls.
Following Arshin's departure, Marsh found another excellent partner in Nicholas Pooran. Batting brilliantly, Marsh completed his century in just 49 balls. As the 14th over concluded, rain once again interrupted the proceedings, forcing a second stoppage of play. Due to the time lost because of the rain, the match was reduced to 19 overs per side.
Following the second rain-induced break, Marsh fell victim to Josh Hazlewood after scoring 111 runs off 56 balls. In his century knock, Marsh struck 9 fours and 9 sixes. Pooran contributed 38 runs off 23 balls, aided by 4 fours and a six. Meanwhile, in the final overs, Captain Rishabh Pant batted aggressively to play an unbeaten cameo of 32 runs off just 10 balls, while Aiden Markram remained unbeaten on 1 run. On the bowling front, Josh Hazlewood and Krunal Pandya claimed one wicket each for RCB.
