Rajasthan: Several killed as multi-storied building collapses in Kota; many feared trapped under debris

New Delhi: A major accident has occurred in Kota city, Rajasthan. A building suddenly collapsed in the Jawahar Nagar police station area. It has been reported that a restaurant was operating in the building at the time of the incident. Panic spread in the area as soon as the building collapsed. Nine people were trapped in the debris. Eight people have been rescued. One person who is still trapped in the rubble is in constant contact with the authorities.

Upon receiving information about the accident, police, rescue teams, and ambulances reached the spot, and rescue operations were immediately launched. The rescue team is trying to remove the debris and rescue the person trapped inside. As a precautionary measure, the police have cordoned off the entire area and restricted the movement of the general public. According to the District Collector, seven people were injured in the accident.

Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar has reached the spot. He is monitoring the relief and rescue operations. It is being reported that the building that collapsed was the Murdabadi Non-Veg Restaurant on Kota Opera Hospital Road.

On Saturday evening, at around 8:45 PM, a two-story under-construction building in Indira Vihar, located in the Jawahar Nagar police station area of ​​Kota, suddenly collapsed, causing panic in the entire area. Immediately after the accident, people in the vicinity bravely started rescuing those trapped in the debris and sent them to the hospital. Upon receiving the information, police, ambulances, and fire brigade teams reached the spot and joined the relief and rescue operations.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed grief over the building collapse in Kota. The Speaker is continuously monitoring the relief operations. Om Birla also spoke to the District Collector and City SP. He instructed them to expedite the relief and rescue operations. He also gave instructions for the proper treatment of the injured. Speaker Om Birla's OSD Rajiv Dutta is also present at the spot.

What have local residents said?

Local residents say the crane needed for the rescue arrived almost an hour and a half late, which slowed down the initial rescue operations. Senior police officers also arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported, and the entire area was cordoned off.
