Jammu & Kashmir: These days, special vigilance is being seen regarding security in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. Mock drills are being conducted on a large scale in the border areas so that preparedness to deal with any emergency can be tested. This entire exercise is taking place at a time when it is the anniversary of last year's terrorist attack and the atmosphere is already sensitive.
This exercise is being done in many border districts of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. Specially those areas have been selected which are considered to be a greater risk from security point of view. In Jammu and Kashmir, different types of drills are being conducted in districts like Ramban and Kishtwar, while in Punjab, also, preparations have been made at the entire state level.
In this exercise, situations like 'blackout' and 'air raid' are created. People are alerted by sounding the siren, then the lights of the entire area are switched off for some time. After this, procedures like rescue operations, evacuation of injured, extinguishing fires, and crowd control are practiced.
A major reason for this is the Pahalgam terrorist attack that took place last year, due to whose anniversary the security agencies are more alert. After this attack, India launched 'Operation Sindoor', in which action was taken against the hideouts of terrorists. Now, keeping the same experience in mind, preparations are being further strengthened.
Officials have clearly said that this is just an exercise, so people do not need to panic. During the drill, people have been appealed to to cooperate, keep the lights off and follow the rules. Essential services like hospitals and fire brigades will continue to function normally during this period.
There is a stir being seen across the border regarding such preparations by India. Experts believe that such a comprehensive drill sends a message that the country is prepared for any situation and has the ability to respond immediately if needed.
Overall, this mock drill is not just a formal exercise but a big effort to strengthen the security system. Its objective is clear – if ever a real crisis arises, both the administration and the common people should be prepared.
