New Delhi: In the program organized on Saturday, Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, giving his interpretation of the word 'Hindu', said that every person living in India is a Hindu. According to him, ‘Hindu’ is not a noun but an adjective, which reflects the civilization and nature of this country.
He said that India will lead the world not by speeches but by its conduct and example. “If you are Indian, this nature is automatically present within you,” he added. He also made it clear that the Muslims and Christians of India also belong to the same soil.
To explain the society, Bhagwat divided Hindus into four types.
In the first category are those who proudly say, “Say we are Hindus.” On the other hand, there are those who think, “If you are a Hindu then what is special in it?” In the third category are those people who suppress their identity and accept it only inside the house. And the fourth category, according to him, is of those who have forgotten their roots or have been forgotten. He expressed concern that efforts are also being made to increase the number of such people.
Bhagwat said that the partition of the country took place on the basis of religion and a major reason for this was the weakening of 'Hindu sentiment'. He believes that India has always respected all religions, yet the country remained united. In his words, “Forgetting this sentiment we had to pay the price of partition.”
On this question, he clearly said that accepting Hindutva does not mean giving up one's worship method, language or food. "You lose nothing. Hindutva is the guarantee of your security," he said. According to him, despite having different beliefs and traditions, we are one as a society, culture and nation. Whether one calls it Hindutva or Indianness, the feeling is the same.
Bhagwat said that the very term ‘Hindu-Muslim unity’ is wrong, because unity exists between people who are different. According to him, the people of India are already a part of one society, so the language of separation is not right.
He said that the Sangh cannot be understood from a distance or on the basis of publicity. If anyone has any objection, they should communicate directly. Bhagwat believes that communication is necessary even within families, so that the new generation can stay away from drugs and wrong paths. He described ‘self-respect’ and ‘self-consciousness’ as important for the youth.
Many well-known personalities also attended this two-day program organized at Nehru Center in Worli, Mumbai. Actor Salman Khan, filmmaker Subhash Ghai and lyricist Prasoon Joshi were among the audience. This lecture was part of the ‘100 Years of Sangh Journey’ series, in which the journey of the Sangh, its role and future direction are being discussed.
