Has Kailash Manasarovar Yatra registration started?

Regarding the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that applications are being accepted on the website kmy.gov.in. The last date for registration is May 19, 2026.

The pilgrimage is scheduled to begin in the first or second week of June. Passengers will be selected through a fair, computer-based, random, and gender-balanced process.

The entire Kailash Manasarovar Yatra process, from online application to selection of pilgrims, is fully computerized. Interested applicants can register and log in to the website and submit their applications online.

Applicants do not need to send physical letters or faxes to receive information. Feedback options on the website can be used to obtain information, provide feedback, or suggest improvements to the tour.

Applicants also have the option to apply for both routes and prioritize them, or they can select only one route.

What is Kailash Manasarovar Yatra?

The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra is a unique journey rooted in Indian culture, faith, and spirituality. This pilgrimage is not only a religious ritual but also a confluence of spiritual peace and natural beauty. Located in Tibet, Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar are considered sacred by followers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism religions.

The pilgrimage resumed last year after a hiatus of nearly five years as part of efforts to normalise relations between India and China. The pilgrimage was first postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later again due to the military standoff between the two sides at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
