'Nose and jaw fractured': Pakistan's Former Pak PM Imran Khan's aide Shahzad Akbar assaulted in UK (X)

New Delhi: In another major breakthrough related to former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's adviser Shahzad Akbar was brutally attacked in UK's Cambridge.

In a social media post, PTI stated that Shahzad was attacked just a few days before he had delivered factual speech against Pakistan’s martial law regime.

The post read, ''A few days ago, the DG ISPR, Major General Ahmed Sharif said in a press conference about Barrister Shehzad Akbar that "I .."I don't even want to see his face”! Yesterday Barrister Shahzad delivered a bold and factual speech against Pakistan’s martial law regime, in front of Pakistan High Commission London during a peaceful protest."

''This morning in Cambridge, Barrister Shahzad Akbar was brutally attacked near his home. The 25-30 year old attacker continuously punched him in the face, as a result of which his nose and jaw have been fractured and he is in the hospital," it added further.

What are the charges against Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi?

It is to be noted here that recently Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi was sentenced to 17 years jail term in Toshakhana-2 case, as per the reports of Pakistan's Dawn.

Announcing the 17 years imprisonment in the Toshakhana-2 case to Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, a special court of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said, ''The case pertains to the purchase of an expensive Bulgari jewellery set, gifted to Imran by the Saudi crown prince during an official visit in May 2021, at a throwaway price... The verdict was delivered by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand during a hearing held at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail, where Imran is incarcerated... Both of them were also fined Pakistani Rs 16.4 million in fines."

It is to be noted here that the case is based on the allegations that expensive items, such as watches, diamond and gold jewellery sets, were sold by the former Pakistan PM and his wife without being deposited in the Toshakhana - the state gift repository. Reportedly, the case was filed in July 2024.

Imran Khan is in jail since August 2023. There are multiple cases filed against him after his removal from power in April 2022.
