Malayalam filmmaker Ranjith arrested in attempted sexual assault complaint by actress; FEFKA takes action

New Delhi: In a latest update in sexual assault case against Malayalam film director Ranjith, he has been hospitalised with health issues after his arrest in connection with an attempted sexual assault case.

It is to be noted here that a court here on Wednesday sent noted Malayalam filmmaker  Ranjith to judicial custody after he was arrested late last night in connection with an attempted sexual assault case.

After his remand, the filmmaker claimed that the accusations against him were "false" and that he would be able to prove it. He made the claim before reporters while being taken inside the sub-jail here, reported PTI.

Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said he was not fully aware of the allegations against noted Malayalam film director Ranjith, who has been arrested in an alleged sexual assault case, but added that there were no complaints regarding the action taken so far by the authorities, PTI reported.

Responding to queries from reporters, Vijayan said he had no detailed knowledge of the allegations. A Left sympathiser, Ranjith had served as the chairman of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy during the tenure of second Vijayan government.
