Dhurandhar's Sara Arjun To Kiara Advani: Know Who Is The Perfect Fit For Madhubala Role

Mumbai: Bollywood's most famous actress Madhubala  earned such a name in the world of cinema with her acting and style that no one has been able to compete with her till date. Madhubala is known for her acting as well as her beauty. Interestingly, a biopic of Madhubala is finally in the works to give a glimpse of that era. The iconic role of Madhubala is being played by 'Dhurandhar' actress Sara Arjun. Reportedly, the film will have a direct-to-OTT release.

Will Sara Arjun will the role?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's films are going to create a stir on the big screen one after the other. Amidst all this, Bhansali is now going to make a film on the life of actress Madhubala. In this film, actress Sara Arjun, who created a stir in the film 'Dhurandhar 2' with Ranveer Singh, will be seen in the lead role. 

What about the film?

The biopic of Madhubala will be released directly on OTT platforms and shooting is expected to begin in July 2026. The film will be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Jasmeet K. Reen, who made his directorial debut with Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah's film 'Darlings'. Jasmeet had been working on the project for the past few years, but it stalled due to budget constraints.  With Bhansali's involvement, the project has now gained momentum. 

Did makers think about other actresses?

Initially, reports suggested that the makers were considering different actresses for the film, but things didn't work out. Sara Arjun was subsequently selected. The film, which has yet to be titled, will explore Madhubala's unique life and legacy.

There are some beauties in the industry who could prove to be perfect for playing Madhubala on the big screen. This includes names ranging from Yami Gautam to Kiara Advani. 

Aditi Rao Hydari

Aditi Rao Hydari is said to be born to play royal women on screen. Her role in 'Padmaavat' was also well-received. Consequently, she could have also played Madhubala's role with brilliance.

Kiara Advani

As previously reported, the makers initially wanted to cast Kiara Advani for the lead role, but things didn't work out. Recently in an interaction on social media, Kiara shared about her dream to star in a biopic about Madhubala. Even her look in 'Kalank' was inspired by Madhubala.

Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha Kapoor's cuteness and acting is loved by many. She could have been the perfect role for Madhubala.

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt is a stunner in every role she takes on. She even won the Best Actress award for 'Gangubai Kathiawadi'.

Madhubala was among the most beautiful actresses of her time and Deepika Padukone also has the same charm as her. Deepika has been a part of many period dramas and acting as Madhubala could have suited her.

The film will depict Madhubala's unique journey in the industry, from becoming one of the most beautiful stars of Indian cinema to the personal challenges she faced away from the limelight. 

Madhubala is one of the most celebrated actresses in Bollywood history. In addition to showcasing her illustrious career, this biopic will also cover important aspects of Madhubala's personal life, including her relationships with renowned actors Dilip Kumar and Kishore Kumar. Casting is currently underway for the roles of Dilip Kumar and Kishore Kumar.
