New Delhi: Renault has geared up to strengthen its foothold in the Indian market. Recently, the company launched its Duster model in India. It stands as one of the most powerful SUVs in its segment. Now, the company is preparing to introduce a hybrid version of the Duster. Notably, alongside the Duster Hybrid, Renault is also set to launch a 7-seater Duster and its new Bridger model. Let's take a closer look at these upcoming products from Renault.
The production-ready Renault Bridger sub-4-meter SUV is slated to arrive in the Indian market in 2027. Built on the brand's RGMP platform, this SUV will be available with multiple powertrain options, including petrol, CNG, hybrid, and electric variants. The petrol version of the SUV is expected to feature options for a new 1.2-liter naturally aspirated or turbocharged petrol engine. Meanwhile, the company may introduce the Bridger EV with battery pack options of 35 kWh and 55 kWh.
Renault has confirmed that the Duster Hybrid will hit the market by Diwali 2026. It will feature a powerful 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, working in tandem with two electric motors (one acting as a 20 BHP generator and the other as a 149 BHP motor to power the wheels) and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. This hybrid configuration generates a combined output of 160 BHP and 172 Nm of torque.
Renault India is also planning to launch a 7-seater version of the Duster. Its design draws inspiration from the Dacia Bigster. Additionally, it incorporates certain styling elements from the 'Boreal' model—a variant destined for sale across 71 markets, including Brazil and Latin America. The engine, platform, and features of the 7-seater Renault Duster will be identical to those of its 5-seater model. Like the Boreal, it is expected to measure 4,556 mm in length, 1,841 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height. Upon its launch, the company may assign a new name to this three-row Duster variant.
Renault is planning to introduce a new three-row SUV. It is likely to be named the 'Boreal'. This SUV will compete against the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and XUV 7XO. The Boreal's platform and underpinnings will be derived from the Duster. The 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol and 1.8-liter strong-hybrid petrol engines are also expected to be available in the 7-seater version. The Boreal will feature a tech-packed, comfortable cabin equipped with features such as a panoramic sunroof, a 10-inch touchscreen display, a premium audio system, and Level 2 ADAS. The company is scheduled to launch this vehicle in the second half of this year.
